| University This college was established in 1964. for a couple of years it was affiliated to the Madras University. With the establishment of the Madurai University on 6th Feb. 1966 this college became affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University with effect from 22nd July 1978. With the inauguration of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University on 07-09-1991 at Abishekepatty, all the colleges of the Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts have become affiliated to the new University. This university was formally inaugurated by Dr. M. Karunanithi, the then Chief Minister of Tamilnadu on 07-09-1991 with Dr. Vedagiri Shanmuga Sundaram as its first Vice- Chanceller.
