CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND CODING TECHNIQUES IN PYTHON

The workshop started on May 17, 2022 at 1.45 pm in the Mathematics Computer Lab. The programme began with the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu. About 60 students from I M. Sc (both aided and SF) participated in this programme. Dr. A. Pramila Inpa Rose, HoD of mathematics, welcomed the gathering. Dr. A. Vijayan, HoD, Department of Mathematics (S. F), delivered the presidential address. The chief guest address was delivered by Er. V. S. Hewitt, Associate Technical Lead, KLA-plus, Chennai. He led the training session and covered the fundamentals of Python. In addition, he also introduced us to a new topic, "Career opportunities in Python," which really helped us learn more about Python. Also, the coding techniques in Python were discussed in detail. Dr. E. Ebin Raja Merly, Programme Coordinator, proposed a vote of thanks. The programme came to an end with the National Anthem.

A WORKSHOP ON BASIC SCIENTIFIC PYTHON

REPORT

A Workshop on Basic Scientific Python was organized on April 11, 2022 at the Mathematics Computer Lab. The programme began with the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu. Dr. T. ShylaIsac Mary, the programme coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Dr. A. Vijayan, HoD, Department of Mathematics (S. F), delivered the presidential address. The chief guest address was delivered by Dr. C. H. Arun, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, NMCC. He led the training session and covered the fundamentals of Python. In addition, he also introduced us to a new topic, "Graph plotting using Python," which was really fascinating and helped us learn more about Python. The following were discussed in detail: ideas about lists, finding solutions for an equation, standard Python libraries, and so on. The session made the students realise that it was fun to play with python. Dr. A. Pramila Inpa Rose, HoD of mathematics, proposed a vote of thanks. The workshop on LaTeX for Research Scholars & Teachers took place on 20th  and 21st January 2017  at seminar hall, Research Department of  Mathematics , Nesamony Memorial Christian College, Marthandam. The workshop was  inaugurated by Dr. K. Paulraj, Principal, NMCC, Marthandam  with an inaugural speech . The keynote address was given by Dr. A. Vijayan, Head of Research centre of Mathematics highlighting the importance of the topic. Dr. D. Nidha was the faculty in charge of this workshop.

 

Objective: The purpose of the workshop is to train the students in LateX, gain the knowledge about documentation on open source tool and to develope a basic understanding of Latex.

Feedback from Students: Students experienced a special hands on practice learning session through which they got a better understanding of Latex tool and applications for it. Students understood the importance of Latex. The content delivery was as per the needs of every student along with healthy interaction.

Workshop Output: Every student edited IEEE research paper on Latex and gain how to insert image, sub images, equation, table, cross reference in research paper. Now they can insert all these confidently in any kind of latex format of IEEE, Elsevier and Springer.

Conclusion: The Department of Mathematics, NMCC, Marthandam  has organized a  WORKSHOP On LaTeX for Research Scholars & Teachers. The aim was to provide hands on practice to the students on the aspects of doing documentation work on open source, scientific tool. This workshop targets those students who are not at all familiar with Latex.
